A Dancer's Guide to Mental Health
This vital resource addresses the mental health challenges faced by performers, offering evidence based tools to foster resilience, creativity, and wellbeing.
Empower yourself or support others in cultivating a sustainable and fulfilling dance career through understanding and proactive mental health management.
You may already have encountered resources on mental health, but very few are written specifically for dancers.
Behind the beauty on stage, dancers often face struggles that remain hidden: auditions that feel like examinations, contracts that may end suddenly, perfectionism that gets praised but easily tips into obsession, injury, and the pressure to look a certain way while performing at your peak. Specific demands that can take their toll on mental health.
This book brings together evidence based strategies with practical tools designed for the dance world. It addresses the conditions most likely to affect dancers, and practical ways to build daily habits that will increase your resilience over time.
